Periods 5,6 New Year Plan Week 1 and Week 2

Monday 1/4/2016:  OMAM Background - approx 10 min.
                Current Events Sharing/Discussion - approx 25 min.
                Introductions Handout/Discussion -  approx 15 min.

                         Homework:  1. Finish OMAM if not already finished
                                             2.  Three memorable quotes that could be applied to
                                                      many topics (by respected people) ---
                                                      printed out in large font with narrow margins

Tuesday 1/5/2016:  OMAM Packet vocabulary sections 2,3,4. (5-10 minutes)
                Share out quotes and post. (10 minutes?    
                Introduction packet pages 3-4.
                Portfolio record keeping form (your responsibility and evidence for your justification).
                Small groups (3-4 per group: rows of 4): "Score" 3  Boorstin sample essays  4/6/8/discuss.
                "Creativity" prompt activity:
                          1) Large group read through
                          2) Discuss prompt in assigned small groups (five minutes)
                          3) Create outline for essay (five minutes)
                          4) Author an introduction paragraph that establishes initial 8/9 score (five minutes)

    Homework:  1. Finish OMAM if not already finished
                         2. Bring in portfolio folder ready for action

Wednesday 1/6/2016:
                ICE Essay Peer & Self Scoring Activity (Boorstin prompt); each student will read and score as 2, 4, 6, 8, each essay presented to the group; pass each essay around group for scoring, but do not discuss! (not yet anyway) This should be quiet time.

Thursday  1/7/2016:A bit of a change.......
               Score your own essay! Record on portfolio record sheet.
               Record peer scores and comments on your portfolio record sheet.  Carefully consider comments.
                Flip side of  portfolio record sheet: ICE! Oh, yes.  I have time Monday to score another round of essays, so we'll go for it today and push back our OMAM group work day and assessment.

Thursday: OMAM test (the remaining sections)
Friday: TBD re Creativity ICE.
