Monday: Miss Ostlund ill; sub doesn't realize lesson plan is available = study hall.

Wednesday: 1. Introduction to the 1920s (short video- take 10+ bullet point notes in Section 1 on what information in the video is most important and/or most likely to inform our understanding of the setting of the novel).
2. Discuss pages 1-4 of the novel in some detail.
HW: Scan back over pages 5-21 (Chapter 1) and in Section 1 record one question (possibly with the answer!) and 1 comment/interaction per page.
Preferred Format Option 1: One post-it note per page (with comment and question and page number) that can be transferred into your notebook after our discussion of Chapter 1.
Preferred Format Option 2: Three column notes in your notebook similar to this example (EX! stands for "I could explain my thoughts about this in class discussion rather than writing it all out here!):

Thursday: 1. Large group discussion of Chapter 1 Q & IC's
2. Read Chapter 2 and create Three Column Dialectical Notes --- Girls on the odd numbered pages; Guys on the even numbered pages!
Friday: 1. Large group discussion on Chapter 2 (1/2 period)
2. Movie! (1/2 period)
3. HW: Read Chapter 3 and complete Three Column Dialectical Notes--Girls on the even pages; Guys on the odd numbered pages!
