Today we'll be back at gathering quality critical reviews/articles/sources related to the literature circle books.
We'll be in the BLUE lab.
- You should have already created a shared google doc for all of your annotated bibliography entries.
- You should have already found 1 quality source per person.
- You should have already started the citation in MLA format and the annotation for each article/source.
- You should have carefully reviewed the links on yesterday's blog entry regarding the precise format for the annotations and the annotated bibliography. Review it again today! Remember, be super picky! Check spacing, capitalization, punctuation, etc. very very very very carefully.
1. Go to the databases we have on the media center resource page.
2. Click on Electronic Library of Minnesota.
3. Click on “Content Type” tab and choose book reviews.
4. Select one of the options on the list to begin. Try others as needed. There are many to pick from:
5. Here is a link to the page http://www.elm4you.org/databases/content/bookreviews
6. Search using your book title.
7. If you are not finding good articles with a simple search of your title, add "book review" to the search descriptor.
Example: Tuesdays With Morrie
Example 2: Tuesdays With Morrie book review
8. Complete an annotation for this new source (with citation, of course).
9. Place the new annotation properly (alpha order, proper format, etc. ) on the google doc you have already created.
10. Look carefully at other group member's entries and help them edit or revise as needed; all group members will get the same score on this assignment unless you make me aware of extenuating circumstances.
Headsup: Get as far as you can today in class; we will likely have some time tomorrow to finish the final version of the group's annotated bibliography if needed.
Headsup 2: Ask Mr. Brian Peters for help as needed; he knows these databases very well!
Here's another helpful link to read as you complete this assignment; the first page summarizes a few important things to know and love about annotated bibliographies; the second page offers an example of a sample annotated bibliography page. The format is correct, although the actual annotation is rather brief and marginally insightful. https://www.tcc.fl.edu/Current/Academics/Library/Documents/MLA%20Annotated%20Bibliography%202015-2016.pdf
