Periods 5,6 AP Lang Tuesday, October 13, 2015

Review Chapters 1 and 2!

Share out your terminology examples; explain briefly; absorb your peers review commentary.

Work with a partner to create two "Quiz Questions Answer Choices" on each of five examples.  Here is what I mean:

Let's say you are working with this statement:

"Hate destroys a man's sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true."
(Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.)

You would identify two rhetorical terms that clearly apply to the statement (above) and create multiple choice answer options for a hypothetical quiz (I may use some of your work on the assessment next week).

So, this could be what you create for the above statement:

1. a) allusion  b) alliteration  c) antimetabole  d)  allegory   e) analogy

2. a) allusion  b) alliteration  c) allegory   d) parallelism   e) zeugma

Rhetorical Device of the Day: ZEUGMA
